Businesses and anchor institutions such as universities and hospitals with deep local roots can have tremendous potential for creating positive change in communities. But what are some of the challenges businesses and anchor institutions face in advancing economic inclusion? And what are some of the strategies they’ve employed to overcome these hurdles?
The Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities (TFN) Learning Network Webinar on September 12 will look at Baltimore Integration Partnership’s recently released report, “Collectively We Rise: The Business Case for Economic Inclusion in Baltimore.”
The webinar will explore how Baltimore’s businesses, anchor institutions, community organizations, and public officials have worked to combat economic inequity and promote economic growth – such as increasing access to good jobs, supporting entrepreneurship, improving the quality of life and in neighborhoods, and creating an infrastructure that connects all residents to opportunity.
Speakers:
- Kurt Sommer, Director, Baltimore Integration Partnership
- Ashley Valis, Executive Director, Community Engagement, University of Maryland, Baltimore
- Cindy Plavier-Truitt, Chief Business Officer, Humanim
