Smart Growth California invites you to a funder-only webinar series on California’s current debate on water, land use, and smart growth in California.
We all drink it, bath in it and swim it in, but many people don’t comprehend the complex politics and issues shaping this necessary component to human life: water. The politics of water are unique to every region, and with the history, size and diversity of California, this state’s water challenges can seem monumental. Join this two-part webinar series featuring water experts and funders to unpack the interplay — and at times disconnect — between water, land use and smart growth in California, and learn about California’s most pressing water challenges and opportunities. Hear how funders across the state are collaborating together to bring water to the forefront and to equip low-income and disadvantaged communities to shape the decisions affecting this fundamental need for their lives and livelihoods.
Register now for the two-part series and contact Kerry Hastings with any questions.
The second session — October 17th at 10 a.m.— will highlight the regional and statewide funder collaboratives working at the intersection of water, land use and equity, including the Community Foundation Water Initiative and the San Joaquin Valley funder collaborative.
Speakers include:
- Joya Banerjee, S.D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation
- Yen Kilday – Central Valley Community Foundation
- Ellen Braff-Guajardo – Sierra Health Foundation/ San Joaquin Valley Health Fund
- Danielle Dolan – Local Government Commission
