Smart Growth California is co-hosting this upcoming funder convening for the Southern California Grantmakers Environmental Funders Group.
This convening will take place nine days after the 2024 election, providing a space for funders to explore its impact on the environment in Southern California. At the national level, the next President will significantly influence the United States’ response to the climate crisis. In California, Proposition 4, if passed, would authorize $10 billion in general obligation bonds for water management, wildfire prevention, and community protection. Additionally, local decisions throughout Southern California will shape environmental outcomes in various ways.
During this convening, we’ll create a platform for funders to share their reactions to the election results and discuss how funding institutions across Southern California are strategizing to protect the environment, particularly in communities disproportionately affected by environmental injustices. After a networking lunch, we invite you to join the SCG Environmental Funders Steering Committee to plan the 2025 quarterly convenings for this group. This event is part of a series of quarterly conversations hosted by the Southern California Grantmakers Environmental Funders Group.
