The PLACES fellows and alumni invite all TFN members to join us for this year’s PLACES 2020 Book Club (previously held at our annual conference). Register now for a lively discussion of this year’s book: This Accident of Being Lost, a collection of stories and songs by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson which highlights the indigenous life of Canadians and the violence of colonialism. Our 2020 author is an award-winning Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg storyteller and writer and a member of the Alderville First Nation in the Canadian province of Ontario.
Want to know more? Check out this interview with the author here.
Also, in solidarity with so many small businesses struggling right now, we invite our members to shop locally for this years book—this is a great time to get to know your local black-owned bookstores! We’d love to see pictures of you sourcing your books and reading: tag @Funders_Network on social with #TFNPLACES and #EquityBookClub.
This book club has been organized by the PLACES Alumni Engagement Committee and will be led by PLACES team member Marci Ovadia. If you have any questions, feel free to email Marci at marci@fundersnetwork.org.
