The Climate Funders Collaborative Steering Committee (Baja/Imperial/San Diego Region) invites you to its next network-wide, in-person gathering on April 11th, from 9 am to 2 pm, in Barrio Logan.

At this gathering, you’ll have an opportunity to connect with funders engaged in climate-related issues and take a deeper dive into issues related to creating inclusive, climate-oriented communities. We’ll visit Barrio Logan to learn more about an exciting Transformative Climate Communities application that’s being put together by the Environmental Health Coalition, San Diego Foundation, and others (check out this 2-pager for details). This would bring over $25M in state funding for a broad set of place-based, climate infrastructure funding into the region. We’ll also strategize on how we can collectively ensure our region secures federal and state funding in support of climate-resilient communities.

Building off the retreat we held last year that many of you attended, we’re focusing on intersectional issues relating to climate justice, as well as philanthropic and community-based practices and trends relevant to the region. Together, we’re working to identify new opportunities and areas of alignment and activate philanthropic resources to strengthen connections to support frontline communities impacted by climate change and uplift locally driven solutions that build climate resilience by integrating a trust-based and racial justice lens.

Thanks,
Ron Milam, Smart Growth California
